RISE Program Success Following Expansion Across CT State

The Hartford Restore, Inspire, Support, Empower (RISE) Program held its first support group on Wednesday, April 15.

Eight women gathered in our safe, confidential, gender-responsive environment to discuss coping skills, peer support, and healthy choices. We explored topics such as the origin and meaning of our names; the ways in which we, as justice-impacted women, retain our sense of femininity and beauty; and, the numerous masks we wear while navigating our multi-layered roles as mothers, daughters, partners, caretakers, and friends.

Over the past four months, this newly established program for women returning to the greater Hartford area after incarceration has been positively impacting the community and experiencing steady growth.

We look forward to sharing additional success from our new Hartford and New Haven RISE programs.
